Many businesses today have realised the need for a common focus, which gives direction to all the staff and allows for strategic interventions to be realised. All too often complex theories, models and strategies have been transformed from the flip charts of their birth in to a beautiful document that is as dead as the pages it is written on. The framed Mission Statement in the reception that took some time to construct along with a great deal of enthusiasm now forms part of the dusting process. We also seen marvelous plans come to very little and the change interventions fizzle out. The cries of "Here it comes again" or "What flavor is it this month" are common in most large companies. Nothing seems to work for any length of time.
Now there is a process that will change all that and ensure that strategies are implemented and the vision and purpose becomes a reality. It is a simple participative process that aligns the company through a common focus called "the compass".
The compass model is a simple one, which drills down through the organisation from a broad strategic direction, to annual plans of action and to an individual's job description. Thus every member within the company is involved and included in the process. People begin to see their role and unique contribution they are making to the success of the organisation.

c@ps is delivered in a two day practical interactive session that produces a one page strategic plan, together with supportive individual performance plans for the next six months and an execution process to ensure the system is monitored and results are achieved.
Any existing Strategic Plan or Balanced Scorecard can be incorporated into the c@ps model with ease.
Further to the two day session there are follow up interventions designed around the organisational requirements to keep the focus and performance measures alive. Leaders will be coached on how to keep the plan active and to make adjustments when things change.
The people who have to perform create the c@ps plans and, as a result, the buy-in and ownership is enhanced. The c@ps process is easily cascaded through the organisation from top strategy; to annual team plans; to individual plans and performance criteria. This holistic approach involves all the people in the organisation. This enables them to realise the contribution they are making to the achievement of the vision.
In large organisations, key people will be coached on how to facilitate the c@ps process through a methodology that is participative and motivating. This allows staff to quickly and effectively contribute to the success of the organisation.
